Type R Check Valve Components

The Type R check valve features a stationary seat with a rubber seal as well as a spring energized poppet that seals when backflow is introduced. The internal components of a Type R check valve include:

• Bonnet gasket
• Seat
• Seat Seal
• Seat screw
• Poppet
• Poppet spring
• O-ring or Packing

Type R Check Valve Sizes and Pressures

The Type R check valve comes in different sizes and pressure ratings. Sizes range from 1-1/16” to 4-1/16” with rated working pressures up to 15,000 PSI. The 5,000 PSI Type R check valve uses a flat steel bonnet gasket and the 10,000 to 15,000 PSI Type R check valves use a Viton rubber gasket with fabric reinforced outer diameter for increased durability.

Type R Check Valve Materials

Type R check valves come in regular trim and stainless-steel trim made of 410 or 316 stainless steel. The seat seal is made of HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile), or Viton if the check valve is being used in a harsher environment. When used in harsher environments, 718 Inconel is also available for several of the internal components. The seat, seat screw, and poppet come in 410 stainless steel but can be made with different materials if and when needed.
